Share Your Story
We often think of Paul as one of the principle theologians of the New Testament. The gospels give us detailed accounts of what Jesus said and taught while he was on earth, but the letters of Paul help connect a lot of dots between Jesus’ actions and teachings and the Old Testament writings. It’s through Paul’s writings that we understand more fully the inner workings of justification by grace alone, the indwelling and gifts of the Holy Spirit, the importance of the resurrection, predestination, and the inclusion of the Gentiles in the body of Christ.
But Acts 26 shows a simple yet powerful side of his ministry: Paul sharing his personal story. Standing before King Agrippa, Paul doesn’t present a robust theology. Instead, he speaks openly about his past—his strict religious upbringing and his fierce opposition to Jesus. Then, Paul humbly describes the moment Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus, changing everything. Paul’s story is raw and honest, highlighting not his greatness, but God's grace. He openly shares how God transformed him from persecutor to preacher, giving his life new purpose and direction. Paul’s simple act of storytelling invited everyone listening—even the skeptical king—to consider the truth about Jesus.
Acts 26 reminds us that sharing the gospel isn’t just for preachers or missionaries. Every believer has a story worth telling, and God uses these ordinary stories to reveal His extraordinary love.
Things to Ponder
Why do you think Paul chose to simply tell his story instead of giving a sermon?
Have you ever felt your story wasn’t "interesting" enough to share? How does Paul's example encourage you?
Who is someone whose simple story has impacted your understanding of God’s love?
Can sharing our weaknesses or struggles be just as powerful as sharing our strengths? Why or why not?
Who might benefit from hearing your honest, personal experience with God this week?
Application Challenge
Acts 26 shows us that sharing our faith doesn't require dramatic speeches or deep theological arguments. Like Paul, we can simply share what we've experienced—how God met us, changed us, and continues to guide us in everyday life. Maybe this week, God is inviting you to share a small, honest part of your story with someone. Trust that even quiet, ordinary moments of openness can become opportunities for others to encounter God’s grace.
Prayer Prompt
God, thank You for giving each of us a unique story to share. Help us recognize opportunities to tell others honestly and simply about Your presence in our lives. Give us courage to share even the small ways You've shown us grace, trusting that You can use our stories to bring others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
