Pass It On
In 1790, a woman named Susanna Wesley quietly shaped history from her home. She never preached a sermon or wrote a famous book, yet she raised children who would influence the world—John and Charles Wesley, founders of the Methodist movement. Susanna taught her many children at the kitchen table, taking time each week to invest in their faith, discipline, and love of Scripture. Though her life was ordinary, her influence lived on for generations. She reminds us that the most powerful investments often happen in the everyday moments of family life, when one generation faithfully passes on wisdom to the next.
Scripture Overview
In Titus 2:1–8, Paul urges Titus to teach believers how to live in a way that matches sound teaching. He calls older men to live with self-control, respect, and wisdom, and older women to model reverence, avoiding harmful habits while training younger women to love their families and live wisely. Younger men are to pursue self-control, while Titus himself is to lead by example, showing integrity in his actions and truth in his teaching. This passage paints a picture of the church as a family where each generation helps the next grow in faith and character, a cycle of investment that keeps the Word of God from being dishonored.
Things to Ponder
Who are the people that have invested in your faith?
What are some everyday ways you can learn from other believers in your life?
How might you, regardless of age, set an example for others?
What would our family look like if we made it a habit to pass on wisdom each day?
Application Challenge
This week, look for one ordinary moment to pass on faith—whether it’s sharing a Bible verse at breakfast, telling a story about God’s faithfulness in your life, or praying for someone together. If you’re younger, ask questions and listen. If you’re older, share something honest about your journey with Christ. Small acts of teaching and learning can have a bigger impact than we realize. Remember that God is bringing his Kingdom to earth by one generation passing it on to the next!
Prayer Prompt
Lord, thank You for the people who have poured into our lives and shown us what it means to follow You. Help us to be faithful in passing on wisdom, love, and truth to others. Give us eyes to see the small opportunities each day to teach, to listen, and to live in a way that honors You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
